"Do Not Hump" Mug

Regular price $8.95

So... In case you don’t know, a hump yard is a type of railroad yard with a small hill (hump) at one end so freight cars can be sorted using gravity, essentially just letting them roll down the hump to their respective track within the yard.  “Do Not Hump” is stenciled on the side of railroad cars that carry breakable cargo, or delicate equipment, in order to prevent damage that might occur in a hump yard, as the impact when coupling can be a little harsh.  It’s often the butt of juvenile jokes among train buffs.  What got my attention with this one was the fact that someone took the time to tape a picture of a man with a wry smile (I think that’s Conrad Janis) on the car next to the stenciling.  I took the picture in 2005 in Roseville, California, at the UP (former SP) yard and it cracks me up every time I look at it.

This 11oz mug is microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and made of durable, high-quality ceramic.
